Thai Food Affair
Last Saturday, I volunteered to help in the annual Thai food affair. I had never been to any affairs before, so I was really excited about that.
Mr.McRady told me they will serve you free food when you get there. I really wanted to try Thai food, and I didn't know I will like them or not. The food affair took place inside a Thai culture site. There were temples and Buddhist monuments all over the place. Different patterns of temples referred to different kinds of people.
The volunteers' jobs there were to assist the food stops. Zia and I chose the Thai sushi stop because we love sushi. The employees at the stop introduced himself to us, his name was Max. Soon, he gave us a small job to do.
Our job was to give four pieces of fried chicken to the people. This was a fun thing to do, because we loved to give out food. At first we were a little bit shy, but Max told us to be more hospitable to the people. Then we started to ask "How are you doing?", and said "Enjoy" when they left. Although the sun was so shining that I could barely open my eyes, but I still enjoyed doing my job. We worked from 8 a.m to 5 p.m, there were no chairs for us to sit. However I didn't feel any tiredness, I loved that job. During our break time, we went around eating food. There were sushi, fried chicken, sticky rice, rice cakes, curry spaghetti and lots of other food. The most delicious one was the banana sticky rice. It has sticky rice wrapping around the banana, I ate a lot of them, and also took some of them back.
Being a volunteer was really a good experience for me. I not only know more about Thai food and culture, but also encouraged myself to talk to customers. I understood it's hard to be a good employee, because different people need different serves, and some of them often don't have good attitude. However, an employee has to keep smiling and be patient to the customer. I respect every employees of restaurants.
