Soft drinks are a popular drinks among young people. Many campus cafeterias require different flavors of soft drinks or high-sugar drinks for the students. However, soft drinks contain many bad elements that aren't healthy for our bodies, especially young teenagers that are still in growth period. I believe school cafeterias should stop selling soft drinks and other high-sugar drinks in order to keep the students healthy.

First of all, soft drinks contain carbonation, high calories and excess amount of sugar. As a result, soft drinks have no nutrients but sugar. For growing teenagers, they need nutritious drink like milk or fruit juice. Also, many athletes like to drink icy soda drinks after harsh training because of their good tastes. But most sugar drinks contain caffeine which can dehydrate the fluid inside their bodies, and made them even more thirsty. As a result, high-sugar drinks are never good for our health.
Secondly, a single tin of soft drink has 39 grams of sugar, which is way too much for a teenager's regular needs. Excess amount of sugar will increase their blood glucose level and may lead to cardiovascular disease. Also, too much intake of calories will cause weight gain. Unfortunately, soft drinks are made with tons of calories, they are often called "empty calories", which means they don't have any utilization value to one's body. Often these calories can't be burned down easily, so it'll turn to fatty acids into our bodies. Once teenagers are addicted to soft drinks, it's extremely for them to quit drinking them. This will even promote teenagers' appetite of trying other sugar-contain food.
